1941 National New Yorker Model Lap Steel Guitar Electric Hawaiian Lapsteel

The National 'New Yorker' lap steel stands out as an iconic and eye catching instrument, having been manufactured from mid-1935 until the closure of Valco at the end of 1968. Remarkably, it was the sole instrument to have been produced throughout the entire lifespan of both the National/Dobro® and Valco companies. 

It was inspired by the Art Deco aesthetics of the Empire State Building, and remains one of the more desirable steel guitars from these companies! It went through a series of design changes.

This is an earlier version of the New Yorker that dates to 1941. Features include the early Hawaiian, Chimes, and Harp tone controls. It includes a cable to convert from its proprietary connector to a standard 1/4 plug. It sports a cool National tack on logo on its headstock. 

This example is in wonderful condition and remains almost entirely original. The original tuners have new knobs and fit well under the original covers. The headstock has a small color matched chip on its back. The fretboard has a slight cosmetic bow. The pickup is clear and powerful. The cool original tweed hard case is included!
