1929 National Style 2 Tricone Tenor Guitar Wild Rose Engraved Resonator

This Style 2 Tenor Tricone Guitar features the Wild Rose engraving pattern throughout. It carries serial #554, dating to circa 1929. The German silver body has three original cones fitted in a metal well in a triangle pattern under its T bridge. The maple three piece neck with center stripe has a bound ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlay. Its banjo-style headstock sports a nice flame walnut overlay and original national decal logo.

The Tricone Tenor is one of the very few tenor guitars that can actually compete with a banjo while offering the that lovely Tricone tone. It’s excellent in the traditional Jazz tenor fifths C-G-D-A tuning, the Irish G-D-A-E, or "Chicago" style D-G-B-E guitar tuning. These were not in production for very long and are rare, wonderful, and versatile instruments for the four-string player an the guitarist or mandolin player who doubles!

This Tricone Tenor is in very good condition and remains almost entirely original. Only the maple bridge insert appears to be of new manufacture. It has age appropriate finish marks and shallow dings. Although there is some fret wear from use present currently, It sounds clear and powerful and will work well for many styles. It ships in a more recent tweed guitar case. Only one... Grab it now!
