1930s Weissenborn Style 1 Teardrop Hawaiian Lap Steel Guitar Lapsteel

Herman Weissenborn was a German born luthier who relocated to Los Angeles and tried to capitalize on the "Hawaiian Craze" of the late teens and early 1920s. During this brief heyday, his hollow-neck Koa lap steels set the bar for resonance and volume and were among the first guitars built specifically for slide playing. Due to his popularity during the Golden Age of Hawaiian music, his instruments will always be closely tied to that sound. However, in modern times, renowned players David Lindley and Ben Harper put Weissenborns firmly on the list of must-own vintage guitars, claiming their sound to be unrivaled and, in Harper's words, "haunting."
